Reeves County Golf Course – September 29, 2024 – The Santa Rosa Classic 3-Person Scramble, a cherished annual golf tournament, successfully brought together 37 teams and 108 participants this year, all united in support of the Santa Rosa Catholic Church and its community initiatives. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, this event marked a triumphant return, showcasing the community’s resilience and commitment to giving back.
This year’s tournament raised vital funds that will primarily assist in the rebuilding and remodeling of the Santa Rosa Catholic Church, which recently suffered fire damage. “We’re incredibly grateful for the support from our community,” said Joseph Jaquez, event coordinator. “The funds raised will help us cover essential repairs, allowing us to reopen our church doors soon.”
The Santa Rosa Classic serves as a significant partnership between the West Texas Catholic Communities and the Santa Rosa Catholic Church. Together, they aim to enhance the quality of life in the region, ensuring that the church remains a cornerstone of faith and community connection.
Looking forward, Jaquez expressed hopes of expanding the event in the coming years. “It would be really cool we get like 72 teams!,” he noted.
The tournament not only highlighted the joy of golf but also fostered a spirit of camaraderie and hope. As participants took to the course, they exemplified the heart of West Texas—a community that comes together in times of need.
