At the Pecos Starlight 2-Person Scramble Town of Pecos City Shined Bright: 36 Teams Tee Off Under the West Texas Sky, The greens at Reeves County Golf Course lit up like never before as 36 teams from across Texas, including visitors from as far as Corpus Christi, gathered for the first-ever Pecos Starlight Scramble, a glow-in-the-dark golf tournament blending fierce competition with glowing fairways, under the vast West Texas night sky.
Golfers of all skill levels teed it up in this two-person, 18-hole Par 3 scramble split between daylight and night play. The first nine holes kicked off at 4 PM with a shotgun start, while the second nine transformed into a neon-lit battlefield under the stars. Beyond the competition, the event also made a meaningful impact, raising enough funds to award a $1,000 scholarship to a local student, reinforcing the tournament’s mission to give back to the community.
GLOWING WITH INNOVATION
Event co-host Ruben Esparza, along with Saul Acosta and Walter Rios, transformed the course into a glowing spectacle of LED markers, lighted pins, and glowing balls. From the first tee shot to the final putt, the Starlight Scramble redefined what golf can be, fun, fresh, and unforgettable.
“We wanted to bring something unique to Reeves County Texas,” said Reeves County Digital Media Director Daniel Alvarado. “This event wasn’t just another tournament; it was an experience. The glow gear, the excitement, the music, and the professional staff made it magical.” With such a strong turnout, Reeves County staff say this won’t be the last of the Starlight series.
“We’re just getting started, we’re not just hosting tournaments , we’re building experiences,” said Alvarado. “With zero extra cost for families to enjoy the digital games and amazing pavilions to hang out at, we are absolutely becoming a golf destination people want to put on their schedules. If you missed this year, trust me, you’re going to want to lock in a tee time next time.”
As the last glowing ball dropped into the cup, one thing was clear: Reeves County doesn’t just play golf, it lights it up.

With $1,000 in cash prizes up for grabs, competition was fierce across three flights. The results were as bright as the fairways:
